The War of the Videos, Episode 1

Normally, I don't like music interspersed with car videos, because it gets in the way of the awesome. However, these two videos both have excuses, so without further ado:

VS.

I have to say, the Aventador (say it with me! It's FUN!) video has an advantage over the Viper because it includes the sound of the car, as well as the music. The Viper's excuse is that it was recorded in slow motion, so if the sound of the car was included, nobody could tell it was the car they were hearing.

Notice also that the Viper's license plate changes through the video, becoming much funnier in the process. I am typically an opponent of license plates going on the Internet, but this one underscores the point of the car. That point is, of course, a completely unaided (except for those pesky federally-mandated techno doodads like ABS) driving experience that will bite back if you mess up. For that reason, I will never own a Viper. I can't handle the responsibility equivalent of all that (horse)power.

What's your pick?

  1. Based on videos alone, I must choose the gorgeous snakeskin green Viper. At least the driver is having fun, and there's smoke. "Ride of the Valkyries" for some reason lends comic effect. I give it six out of ten.

The Lambo, on the other hand, isn't even being driven; it's just being "moved" in a painstakingly s-l-o-w manner. But that exhaust sure sounds fantastic. The sync of music and video at the beginning is well-done, but the "O Fortuna" is misplaced since that piece refers to wheels and fortunes constantly being in motion. I give it three out of ten. The score would've been higher if the video was shorter. Sorry if that's too harsh. :)

  2. True, the Aventador's (it's still FUN!) soundtrack is oddly misplaced. Perhaps they should have been switched, as Wagner was German after all. :)

  3. Ah, I forgot to mention that the Aventador reminds me of a lion being forced into its cage by zoo handlers starting around the 6:00 mark.

  4. Haha! "lion being forced into its cage"-right you are! And I do agree that "Aventador" is fun to say, and now after learning Italian diction, I can say it correctly. Now I'm imagining an "um-pah-pah" bass line with lyrics about the a-VEEEEN-ta-DOOOOOR....Stop me before I compose!

  5. Oh. I was pronouncing it uh-VEN-tuh-DOR. Oops.

  6. Nope - your pronunciation is fine. My attempt at showing exaggerated Italian pronunciation: fail.
