The 'Ring is definitely quite long; about 14 miles, in fact. Supposedly, it's actually not much of a power track (except for the obvious, like 8:51 and onward in the Viper video and 6:20 in the Ferrari one), unlike Laguna Seca, which, despite being much shorter, offers more opportunities for passing that only more powerful cars can exploit.
It would definitely be lots of fun. BMW offers a little program called the 'Ring Taxi, where an experienced driver will take you onto the track in an M3 and drive like crazy with you as passenger. They're actually having trouble providing the funds for it at the moment, but it's still going.
That is one heck of a LONG track. Would be much fun!
